1. The Little Green Bee-eater, Merops orientalis (Coraciiformes - Meropidae) is an exquisite bird with bright emerald green plumage. This species, like other bee-eaters, is a richly colored, slender bird. It always has green upper parts, but the head and underpart colours vary widely depending on the race. 

    The Little Green Bee-eater occurring in in Myanmar and Thailand corresponds to the subspecies Merops orientalis ferrugeiceps (=birmanus), wich has rufous crown, name and mantle.
